Test av lettvektsbremser for landevegssykkel

På forumet til Fairwheelbikes så har dei publisert en test av lettvektsbremser for landevegssykler. Dei har testa følgende bremser: Ax Orion, Kcnc, M5, ZG Negative gravity, and ZG Ti

Her er iallfall summary av testen:

Kcnc 33
Negative Gravity 31
Ax Orion 27
Zero Gravity 22
M5 20.

I would like to remind everyone that of course the results don't mean a whole lot to others, it will give you some impression of what I think of the brakes. I'm sure quite a few will disagree with me.

So for a review summary from top to bottom:

Kcnc, for me a pretty clear winner. As I mentioned earlier this brake is not perfect, however it's balance of characteristics makes it's perhaps the most well rounded of all the brakes. Inexpensive, Light, and functional.

Negative Gravity, honestly I was surprised to see I scored this one so high. This brake excels in several categories, good stopping power, good modulation, decent price and is very suitable for heavier riders. It also includes quality pads. Certainly a huge step up over the Zg. Although it comes at a pretty good increase in weight.

Ax Orion, so I'm quite surprised to see this one right in the middle. I certainly thought it would rank tops. However looking at the categories that kept it down such as price and lack of brake pads, these are not important performance issues, and if I were to leave them out of my criteria, my final scores would have looked like this:
Ax 26
Kcnc 25
Ng 22
M5 18

Zg 14
A complete change up. So I guess a good description for this brake is that when money does not count this is THE Lightweight brake.

Zero Gravity. Still a decent brake but I think it just goes to show how quickly things in this industry change. Considered the pinnacle of lightweight brakes several years ago, I think now there are several contenders looking to take that title away.

M5. A deceptive finish for this brake. Unfortunately for the M5 brake, my size means that the test was inherently biased away from it. This brake really shines for heavier riders that want a lighter option than Record or DA. However it does have some shortcomings and suffers some losses from the weak dollar driving it's price up.

So that does it for this review. I know it's not perfect, but I hope some of you found it at least a little interesting.
